Tips and Tricks for getting the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Selecting and booking the best Hilton Head rental home:
- Select dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Charming condo with shared pools and hot tub, high-speed WiFi, and central AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you long to visit, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
