How to get the best rental home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.

Choosing and booking a perfect Hilton Head vacation home:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Bay-view condo with balcony, AC, & W\/D - walk to beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
