Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Summer is high season in the Hilton Head area. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. An Inspired Renovation Perfect for Your Next Family Getaway! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
