Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To book the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the best rental home:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to date ranges and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. 2 Bed/2 Bath Villa North Shore Place Near Coligny Beach, Rooftop Pool and Spa has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
