Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the perfect vacation home:

  • Start by having your family choose vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Wonderfully Updated Two Bedroom Condominium with Ocean Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
