Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your Hilton Head vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Planning and picking your prefectrental home:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Family-Friendly Townhome with Lagoon View, Shared Pool, Hot Tub & Tennis has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. text the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
