Finding the best rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and picking a perfect Hilton Head rental home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Airy, lagoon-view condo with pool, hot tub & tennis - walk to the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
