How to book the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfect Hilton Head vacation home:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 1400 sq ft of nothing but comfort and fun! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
