Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To get the best rental for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose your dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Updated Condo with Lagoon Views, Shared Pool, Hot Tub & WiFI - Near Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
