Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Booking in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Choosing and booking your Hilton Head rental:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Updated Condo with Lagoon Views, Shared Pool, Hot Tub & WiFI - Near Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
