Vacation rental booking tips:
When to visit & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. To get the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best vacation home:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Marriotts Barony Beach Club - 2 Bedroom has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you long to visit, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
