Getting the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
When to visit Hilton Head & When to book:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing the rightrental:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Perfect Beach Retreat! Steps to the best beach on Hilton Head has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If not, call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
