Getting the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have discounts for local shops and restaurants.

Planning and choosing the bestrental home:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Family-Friendly Townhome with Lagoon View, Shared Pool, Hot Tub & Tennis has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you crave, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
