Strategies to get the very best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Conveniently Located Vacation Condo w\/Shared Pool & Tennis Court, Free WiFi, AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
