Tips to get the optimal rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Classy condo w/ a full kitchen, furnished deck, & shared pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
