Our top Hilton Head rental booking tips:
When to visit Hilton Head & When to book:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- To find the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking a perfectvacation home:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Welcome to Eleventh Heaven! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your contract.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
