Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserve your Hilton Head rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Welcome to Eleventh Heaven! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
