How to find the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer is high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- To start, have your group decide on dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Welcome to Eleventh Heaven! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
