Booking the best vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and picking the perfect Hilton Head rental home:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Stunningly remodeled 3rd floor villa with ocean views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
