Finding the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your Hilton Head vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Hilton Head rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Couples Retreat, Dog Friendly, Private enclosed courtyard has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
