Booking the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Hilton Head rental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Nautical condo with a balcony, & AC - close to pickleball and tennis courts has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
