Our top Hilton Head rental booking tips:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Dog Friendly has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you simply love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
