Tips for getting the best vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Large Two Bedroom Villa with Easy Access to Several Amenities! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
