How to book the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. Book your Hilton Head vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Spacious villa, short walk to the beach, golf, pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
