Tips to get the optimal Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the right Hilton Head rental:

  • Select vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Romantic Marina View Condo w\/ Free WiFi, Balconies, Washer\/Dryer, & Shared Pool has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
