Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing the perfect Hilton Head rental home:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Breathtaking Ocean Views & Heated Pool has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
More considerations:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
