Our top Hilton Head rental home booking tips:
When to go & When to book:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. To find the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the perfect rental in Hilton Head:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautifully renovated 1 bedroom villa with shared pool- ocean views has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you simply love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
