Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing the right Hilton Head rental:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Many New Updates Make this Large Three Bedroom Villa Perfect! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you crave, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
