Strategies to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your search:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 2nd floor renovated end unit w\/ stunning pool, lagoon, and ocean views! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
