Tricks and tips to get the very best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, try changing your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Planning and picking the rightvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront Villa with Ocean Views, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub, and Nearby Beach Access has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. message the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
