Strategies to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the perfect rental:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Nicely Appointed Home with Lagoon Views! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you crave, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
