Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Spacious condo with pool, tennis courts, & golf on-site has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your trip.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. text the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
