Tips and Tricks to get the very best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. Booking in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation rental:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 309 Ocean Dunes - Fabulous Ocean Front Beach Views - Heated Pool! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your trip.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
