Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your Hilton Head rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose your prefect Hilton Head rental home:

  • To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Lovely, water-viev townhouse with pool - short walk to Harbour Town & playground has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
