Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the bestrental home:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. An Inspired Renovation Perfect for Your Next Family Getaway! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
