Getting the best Hilton Head rental home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Great Spot for Your Next Family Vacation! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your contract.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
