Strategies to get the optimal Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • First, have your family choose trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Panoramic views of the inter-coastal waterway Broad Creek! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. message the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
