Finding the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the best vacation home in Hilton Head:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Beautiful Colonial-style Home with Lagoon Views and Newly-Constructed Pool! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you are enamored with, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
