Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Finding the perfect rental home in Hilton Head:

  • First, have your group commit to the best dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beautiful Colonial-style Home with Lagoon Views and Newly-Constructed Pool! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Call the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
