Rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Booking in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the perfect rental home in Hilton Head:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Well Updated with Beach Contemporary Decor -- Welcome to the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
