Hilton Head vacation rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best rental home:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Well Updated with Beach Contemporary Decor -- Welcome to the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you crave, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
