Tips to get the very best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Choose vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Well Updated with Beach Contemporary Decor -- Welcome to the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
