How to get the best vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the best rental within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking your Hilton Head rental:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Enchanting condo with pool, full kitchen, & central AC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head beach you are enamored with, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More tips for your visit:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
