Finding the best rental home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer months are high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by having your group commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Water-view condo with pool, hot tub, gym, tennis, AC & W\/D has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. Otherwise, email the host before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
