How to book the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Nautical Dream at HHR! 3rd Floor of Building 4 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
