Booking the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking the perfectvacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Updated Villa Easy Walk to the Beach and Pool has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you crave, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Have a great stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
