Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
Get the best value:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To find the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick a perfect Hilton Head vacation home:
- First, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Spacious Dog-Friendly Condo with Shared Pool, Tennis, Golf & Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Call the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
