Finding the best rental experience:

Getting the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the perfect rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Remodeled, Ground-Floor Condo w/ Deck, AC & Shared Pools - Walk to Beach has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
