Tips for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Hilton Head attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and picking the rightvacation home:

  • Select your dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Relaxing beach resort condo with outdoor pool, tennis, AC, & balcony has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Additional considerations:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
