Our top Rental home tips:
When to visit & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Book your rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your group choose trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Condo, Two Bedroom, Second Floor has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you simply love, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
