Getting the best Hilton Head rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting the best vacation rental in Hilton Head:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Updated beach gem with ocean views, pool, hot tub, & tennis - snowbird-friendly has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Advice for a great stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
