Booking the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Private Beach Access! 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath Villa at The Spa on The Port Royal Sound has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
