Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best rental in Hilton Head:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Ideally located condo with pool, tennis court, bikes, balcony, deck, W/D & AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
