Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

How to select the perfect rental:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to the best dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Ideally located condo with pool, tennis court, bikes, balcony, deck, W\/D & AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
