How to find the best Hilton Head rental home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

How to choose the perfect rental home in Hilton Head:

  • Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Luxurious home with private pool, central AC, & high-speed WiFi - walk to beach has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
