Vacation rental home tips:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect vacation home in Hilton Head:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Hilton Head Island Oceans Palms Villa 2 Bedrooms, Private Bathrooms, Sleeps 6. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
