Tips and Tricks for getting the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Start by having your family agree to trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautiful Golf Front Villa! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
